Symphony of the Seas
Our family has just returned from a wonderful cruise on board the Symphony of the Seas. Our family sailed on Symphony back in May of 2019 and we went through a lot during the Pandemic so we were excited to get back to her. For this cruise, we were celebrating our birthdays. It was Chris and I’s 40th birthday and my mother-in-law’s 70th birthday so we decided to splurge on the 4-bedroom villa, which is in the Star class of suites.
The room itself was amazing. We had never stayed in a room with a balcony so large that it could not only allow us to have dinner for out entire party of 9 with room to spare but also had its own jacuzzi. We have never spent so much time in our stateroom because we have never had a stateroom that had so much to offer.
As part of our Star Class perks, we had a Genie who would essentially make sure that all of our wishes would come true. This is a service offered currently only on Quantum and Oasis class ships. Our genie, Hugo, contacted us about a month before our cruise to introduce himself and find out about what shows and restaurants we were hoping to dine at during our cruise. He arranged for all of those reservations ahead of time. He also scheduled some events or event times set aside only for star class, such as the Escape Room and the Bridge Tour. On embarkation day, Hugo met us at the port walked us onto the ship, to our room and made sure that we got settled nicely. Then, throughout our cruise he made sure that we had seats saved for every show we were at, that our dining reservations were arranged, that we had plenty of drink and food delivered to our room. Not to mention, Hugo was great with our kids, especially our 10-year-old who requires some extra care and understanding.
There was a lot that we loved about Star class, like access to the Suite Sun Deck and the ability to order just about anything up to our room. And don’t forget the complimentary laundry service, which made returning to reality easier. We also feel that there were some perks that we found unnecessary, like the drink package as we already receive free drinks from our diamond status, so right now we are evaluating whether or not all of the perks are worth the pretty penny that the cruise cost us. The verdict is still out. Stay tuned.
