The Beach Club at Bimini: Richard’s Favorite Spot in the Caribbean

As our first cruise on Virgin Voyages was a 4-night cruise, we only had 2 stops.  After our stop at Key West, we headed over to The Bahamas where we stopped at Bimini and were given access to “Richard’s Beach Club”.  Who know if Richard actually has anything to do with the place? To me, it doesn’t matter because we had a great time.

While on Bimini, there are shore excursions that you can choose from such as a booze cruise or other more adventurous activities or you can simply rent a golf cart to ride around the island.  We opted to simply give the beach club a try, which had complimentary access.  We got off the ship early and headed over to the beach cub so we could find prime seating.  We were very impressed. You could choose between seating by either pool (one had a water volleyball court installed and the other was over by where the DJ would be for the Float On Party) or you could stretch out by the beach. As we waited for the bars to open, we lounged, swam and explored the area.  Chris discovered that there was a VIP area for suite guests, which seemed mostly empty but looked nice.

Once the bars opened, we were able to order drink either by going over to the bar or ordering poolside.  We witnessed one lady order a “Lemon drop but made with whiskey”, which she insisted was NOT a whiskey sour.  We ordered a bucket of beer to enjoy by the pool and enjoyed that for most of the day.  When we got hungry, we wandered over to the food area, and once again we discovered that instead of a buffet that we could choose between a variety of small plates, all of which were delicious.

At 1pm, the Float On pool party started.  For this, the entire Happenings Staff and many of the dancers came out to the pool.  They threw probably a hundred pool floats out into the pool.  It was a lot of fun to see all of these adults acting like children and it was even greater to be one of those adults.  The Happening Staff also spent some time dancing and chatting with guests.  We had a lot of fun but then were ready to give up our float and get back to the ship.

Once again, we headed back to the ship on the earlier side so that we could experience a quiet ship.  We lounged around in the area called The Dock and enjoyed more of the food that was offered in that area.  We really enjoyed our time at the Beach Club and the fact that everything was complimentary made us enjoy it even more.  We are looking forward to our return and probably would spend our day similarly.
